The Forest & Field branding project involved the creation of a distinctive contemporary visual identity for a growing chain of coffee shops based in Ireland. The brief focused on clarity, character, and scalability—developing a brand system capable of performing consistently across multiple locations and product ranges while remaining recognisable and expressive.
At the core of the identity is a custom-designed typeface, created specifically for Forest & Field. Typography becomes the primary visual language of the brand: confident, modern, and warm. The bespoke letterforms establish a strong tonal voice, allowing the brand to communicate without reliance on illustration or decorative excess. This typographic approach reinforces authenticity and craft, aligning with the values of quality, origin, and care that underpin the coffee experience.
The visual system is intentionally restrained and contemporary. A clear hierarchy, controlled use of colour, and typographic rhythm ensure flexibility across applications—from storefront signage and interior graphics to packaging, cups, menus, and retail products. The identity is designed to scale effortlessly, maintaining coherence whether experienced in a single café or across an expanding network of locations.
Forest & Field’s branding positions the company confidently within a competitive market, offering a recognisable and modern alternative to both generic coffee chains and overly rustic independents. The result is a brand that feels grounded yet progressive—built around typography, clarity, and a strong sense of place.
